B I O G R A P H Y

 ZOË ​

FREEDMAN

     soprano

​​​

Soprano Zoë Freedman studies with Mary Plazas. She received a Distinction in her Master’s at Trinity Laban in 2014, studying with Alison Wells. 

​

Recent performances include Priestess/Siren in Purcell’s King Arthur (Dartington International Summer School),  First Lady in The Magic Flute (Opera at Bearwood), Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro (Thames Philharmonia, Dulwich Opera Company), Zerlina in Don Giovanni (Dulwich Opera Company, and Hornton Chamber Orchestra), Papagena in Die Zauberflöte (St Paul’s Opera), Diana in Cavalli’s La Calisto (Hampstead Garden Opera), opera scenes at Trinity: Nanetta (Falstaff), Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier).

​

In oratorio she has performed as a soloist with the J2 Chamber Choir, London Youth Opera, the London Oriana Choir, and the Spires Philharmonic and Chorus.  She was a finalist in the Elisabeth Schumann Lieder Competition at Trtinity Laban in 2014.

​

She has sung in masterclasses with Joan Rodgers, Ryland Davies and Matthew Rose.   She studied with Gillian Keith at the Dartington International Summer School in 2016, with the generous support of the Dartington Hall Trust.  This year she was kindly supported by the Boltini Trust to perform in the Advanced Opera.

​

She recently joined the Philharmonia Chorus and has sung in the opening week of Hamburg’s new Elbphilharmonie, in Valencia, the RFH, and RAH.

​

She has a First from the University of Warwick in English and Theatre Studies.  During her time at Warwick she was active in the Music Centre, including directing, musically directing, and producing for Warwick Student Opera.

​

Future performances include Stockhausen’s Stimmung at the Barbican Centre.
